We are Mark and John and we welcome you to 'our' house.
We’ve been hosting guests here for over 17 years and still genuinely enjoy sharing Nelson with people from all over the world.
Ah House B&B sits right in the heart of Nelson City, a place we’re very fond of. It’s vibrant, creative, and full of character—and we like to think our home reflects that. Over the years, we’ve shaped it into something that feels both timeless and comfortable, with a focus on sustainability.
We take a practical approach to being sustainable—energy-efficient systems, thoughtful choices, and locally sourced (and organic where possible) breakfast options. It’s about doing what we can, without making a fuss, and without compromising on comfort. We’ve recently completed our carbon footprint, which was a really worthwhile step for us.
Last year, we rescued a wee border terrier called Blue. She adores guests but is very respectful if dogs aren’t your thing. As a result, we’re unable to accommodate other pets, so all rooms remain pet-free.
When describing what we offer guests, we don’t tend to use the word “luxury”—it’s not really us. We prefer to offer a warm welcome and a place where you can properly relax.
Nelson and New Zealand offer some pretty spectacular scenery and experiences, and we’d love to share them with you. Known as the “Sunshine City,” Nelson is full of history, creativity, and beautiful beaches. We’re perfectly located for you to enjoy both the city and everything around it.
Whether it’s a stroll along the beach, a trip out to Abel Tasman National Park or Nelson Lakes National Park, or a quiet glass of wine at a local winery, there’s plenty to enjoy here.
And with some fantastic eateries just around the corner, you’ll be well looked after.
