Welcome to Ah House Nelson City B&B, where we have been proudly serving guests for over 17 years. Ah House is a unique, award-winning bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation experience in the heart of Nelson city centre, New Zealand.

Choose from our Garden Apartment or Garden Rooms, both set in our sunny garden with views towards Nelson’s iconic Cathedral. Each is fully equipped for a comfortable stay — whether you prefer to self-cater or enjoy dining at one of the many restaurants just a short stroll away. Ideal for solo travellers, couples, or two people travelling together.
Just a 3-minute walk brings you into the heart of the city, with its great selection of cafés, restaurants, and bars.
Breakfast is always included and can be enjoyed in our dining room, in your apartment, or out on your private deck. Rooms are serviced daily, unless you’d prefer otherwise.

Our Garden Apartment
Our Garden Apartment is a bright, spacious, fully self-contained 44 sqm studio, set in our quiet, sunny garden with views across to Nelson’s iconic Cathedral.
The apartment features a super-king bed (or twin singles), an ensuite bathroom, dining area, kitchen, and comfortable lounge. The kitchen is well equipped with a small fridge, oven, microwave, and all the essentials, while the lounge offers a sofa and two cosy chairs — perfect for relaxing with a book or a chat.
French doors open onto your own private, sunny deck overlooking the garden, complete with table, chairs, and umbrella — ideal for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine after a day exploring Nelson and the surrounding region.
With private garden access, full insulation, double glazing, and solar hot water, the Garden Apartment offers comfort, privacy, and a relaxed stay right in the heart of the city.

Our Garden Rooms
Our Garden Rooms are what we like to call city-centre, glamorous glamping — our take on a classic Kiwi bach, with a focus on relaxed, sustainable living. Set in our sunny, peaceful garden, the space is made up of two separate cabins linked by a deck. One is a cosy 10 sqm lounge with a small kitchen area, and the other a larger 18.5 sqm bedroom with a queen bed and an ensuite.
Both rooms enjoy a sunny outlook over the garden and Nelson’s Cathedral, with indoor and outdoor seating to make the most of it. It’s the perfect spot for breakfast or unwinding after a day exploring. (BBQ available on request.)
The Garden Rooms have their own private access from the garden, giving you a little space of your own in the heart of the city.

Both rooms are fully insulated, have heating, so lovely & warm in the winter and glorious in the summer.
